Support The Interview with Karan Thapar –
Live at 5.30 pm Michael Kugelman, the Director of the South Asia Institute at the Wilson Center, analyses the Biden Administration’s response to the Trudeau allegations. How should we asses President Biden’s deep concern expressed directly to PM Modi? How closely has the US coordinated and consulted with Canada in providing the intelligence? How does Washington view Delhi’s response? What sort of pressure does India face from the US to fully cooperate with Canada’s investigation? Could this adversely affect India-US relations? And how will the White House tackle the disturbing questions about India raised by the media?

04.10.2023The ironies of life!! Surely saudis will have done their due diligence about muslims being persecuted in india b4 deciding on being a strategic ally…for all the noise this abcd KT wants to put words in the mouth of every man and his dog abt human rights😅😅

04.10.2023Why is that everyone else’s word is taken for granted but when the Indian govt said nothing substantial was shared, that becomes doubtful?? What is backing the other people’s statement?
Mike Spear
04.10.2023Entire west including US and many others are solidly stand behind Canada and Trudeau. They have seen the evidences provided in this case. India has no options.

04.10.2023Modi has goofed again as he goofed on selling half of India to Adani before realizing it was a stupid mistake and a huge blunder beside this murder will make every sikh a diehard Khalistani not just in Canada but even right here in India.
I repeat again Mr Modi is neither a visionary leader nor a farsighted leader worth enough to rule an explosively talented country like India.

04.10.2023Wow. I question the wisdom of this expert. An Indian national applies for Canadian visa on a fraudulent passport. Canada government rejects that. He gets married to a Canadian citizen and applies for green card – which is again rejected stating this is a fake marriage. Eventually-he is granted asylum and he gets naturalized and starts contributing to Canadian economy by paying taxes after amassing wealth by working as part time plumber. His main job though is to make threats against the sovereignty of nation in which he was born. The Canadian democracy is perfectly ok with his efforts to disrupt sovereignty of india , a land of 1.4 billion people , because after all he has freedom of speech. Question. Does Canadian government tell the same -if his proposed Khalistan is carved out of Canadian land ?
Question 2. Who are killers of Hardeep nijjar? If they are not identified, how do you know who is behind them ?

04.10.2023Great independent journalist and journalism. I have seen reason times from India 👌

04.10.2023Requesting you to invite a representative from the community whose leader (NAMTA) recently was seen in a video preaching in a gurudwara (Canada) and seeking help from the Khalistanis in their fight against who know who.I hope you are not afraid to ask the tough questions.

04.10.2023The prime minister of inept government makes an unsubstantiated claim, and Karan Thapar goes all guns blazing against his own country. Strong denial by Indians are dismissed with contempt.
For the sake of fairness, he should have at least mentioned the most heinous terrorist activities such as Kanishka bombing, which was handled pathetically badly by the Canadians. 40 criminals running away from India are hiding in Canada out of which 17 have red corner notice. Canada has sat over them. Karan Thapar has no time to ask any questions on these important issues which directly concern India’s security.
No wonder, he has lost all credibility in India
Aritra Chatterjee
03.10.2023Sadly, karan does not ask this journo whether the rules of the rules based order and free speech includes open call for assassination of serving diplomats protected under the Viena convention.

03.10.2023Good stand taken by USA based on morals and ethics.

03.10.2023Very disappointed that Mr Thapar asking Kugleman regarding India Democracy sliding — on the contrary, Indian democracy is stronger than ever
Jayanta Sarma
03.10.2023Are they listening to Indian mission in Canada and other countries? Not a friendly act, Mr Thapar. The best Canada can do is to catch the assassin first and convict in a court of Law. The rest will follow from that. In the meantime they can reign on the Khalistani terrorism.
Jayanta Sarma
03.10.2023Cooperation between friendly agencies are a standard normal thing, Mr Thapar. Also, rules applying to all equally is a standard position. Don't read too much. Will be very confused if try to extract deep meaning from these rhetorical statements.
Jayanta Sarma
03.10.2023People do come to India for holiday, Mr Thapar. Maybe Mr or Miss Thomas spent some relaxing time in India. Who knows.

03.10.2023This conversation is a perfect example to understand why Academics and Economists are Useless in real world politics and Business Economics.
Its just circle jerking and back patting with only limited Academic impact.

03.10.2023Khalistanis' are terrorists. They killed the Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi. Also, they blew up an Air India flight and killed 320 innocents. Canada is supporting these terrorists and they have not done anything to those who blew up the Air India flight and they are freely roaming around Candian streets. Canada should be put under FATF grey list, I have heard Indian Govt is working on this on the background.
Palat Govinda Menon
03.10.2023What about Rana along with Headley who who provided the input to LET for Bombay killings 28/11? Since killing took place in India, why weren't they extradited by US. They had all the information but we're chary of giving it all to the Indian intelligence. Doesn't it count that US was turning a blind eye to what it's own double agent was doing?
Pranabesh Saha
03.10.2023I don't understand , why is it so difficult for the interviewer to raise the issue of organised crime of Canadian Khalistani supporter impacting Indian Punjab? Does United States realise the issue?
Kptar
02.10.20231. Interviwer has been biased when time and again bought up democratic backsliding as keyword. Ideally in an unbiased communication the message should not have been forced vs elicited
2. Area of India’s concern of being key for the relationship will be part of diplomacy and I think it has to be.
3. In another article there was a notion of reigning of RAW, giving examples of USA and Germany. But are any of the enemy or friendly states are not doing the same. So why should not RAW do the same?

02.10.2023Warning to ll countries; Act on the terrorists who are waging war on India or India will eliminate them
Manish
02.10.2023As usual the West has double standard regarding security threats….their terrorist are fair game any other country’s terrorist are activist. Unfortunately Karan Thapar is a product of the colonial mind set who can’t challenge any thing West says without feeling his progressive credentials are threatened.

02.10.2023Canada scored a point, by not reciprocating india's action of canceling visa for Canadian Nationals
Ramachandran Kannan
02.10.2023Very low quality interview. Both Kugelman and Thapar are known for being anti Modi and ignore that the Canadians have failed to provide any real evidence except claims of intelligence inputs . The Canadian version suggests it has got some information from ISI and is passing it off as " credible allegations of potential links". All evidence points to the murder being a part of the gang wars that criminals like Nijjar are involved in. The real question is why the Canadians are protecting the criminals?
Leki Tshering
02.10.2023Hello ! Mr Thapar Sir ..why are not hostng your show UN report on religious and caste base violents in India under this criminal Modi government ? You are well aware of what is happening and happened many times …

02.10.2023WOW KARAN NEVER PONDERED THE POSSIBILITY THAT INDIAN GOVT may be correct, this is the way of jounalism he does.
never tried to defend the INDIAN view.
karan is the real shit here.

02.10.2023Kind of disappointed. Usually Mr Thapar provides a fair and balanced view of things. I'm no Modi fan but this is an international matter against players that have very convenient views on Democracy and sovereignty of other nations when it comes to their own interests. Why didn't the writers discuss how international community refused to sanction Pakistan for 26/11 when India PROVIDED HEAPS OF PROOF yet here when Canada has 'allegations' all has gone to hell? What about Trudeau needing the Sikh vote bank to hold on to power? The west protects its own and always will. Despite political & ideological differences, the east needs to watch it's back when it comes to the west.

01.10.2023Biden is angry with Indian purchase of Russian oil, S400 and arms and refusal to condemn Putin's invasion of Ukraine. India also failed to put up a fight over Pangong and lost vast territory to China, so USA is not sure if India will actually have the guts to help QUAD contain China. Trudeau has made this murder issue public with the support of USA, G7 and 5 Eyes to express their anger.
White house spokesman Kirby, US Secretary of state Blinken, NSA Jake Sullivan all confirmed US provided signals intel on this murder to Canada and warned against trans state repression against dissidents and political opponents. USA seems to be behind this.
Russia is also no longer a solid ally. Sadly Putin is also angry about Indian partnership with QUAD and pointedly boycotted G20 in India. China boycotted G20 over the land dispute. India has to choose one side now and each side wants complete obedience no balancing act.
Zoon Chenar
01.10.2023USA is not in any "difficult" situation. Biden is using this event to send an angry message to Modi about Ukraine. Imho

01.10.2023I think US has nudged Canada to pick a fight with India so that they can have a handle on India for any trade deals.Just like US asked Canada to arrest Huawei's CFO to have a handle on China.

01.10.2023No hate for Canada but it should consider stopping the Khalistanis.

01.10.2023Mr. Kugelman should correct himself that India is NOT against to any particular community and Sikh community in particular. But India is averse to Kalistani, which is a separatist Group which was responsible for killing of our PM Indira Ghandi. Saying US or any other Country like Canada is unable to differentiate between Sikhs and Kalistani is unimaginable. So K should learn to understand this difference. If corrected, then K should appreciate that there is no security threat to Sikhs around the World. Without such fundamental understanding K is spreading "Wrong-message", certainly it is a wake-up call to openly declare that Kalistani is a terrorist organisation.

01.10.2023MODIJI AUR UNKE CHAMCHE CANADA KO TERRORISTS COUNTRY DECLARE KAR RAHE HAI , KYA S. JAISHANKAR JI NE PROOFS DE DIYE KI KYA TERRORISTS ACTIVITYS CANADA KE SOIL PER CHAL RAHI HAIN ????

01.10.2023Karan Thapar is a rare example of an Indian journalist who is both highly intelligent and fair-minded !! Compare Mr. Thapar to those female models on WION / Gravitas like Priyanka Sharma. According to those models India is PERFECT and any country that dares to ever criticize India for ANY reason is rotten to the core .
Amar Kumar
01.10.2023It’s so disappointing & annoying tosee that the Thapars have repeatedly been involved in blatantly distorting the India history (Romila Thapar) & the present political & social issues & events (Karan Thapar) to project India’s worst images to the world. For example, Karan has recently been tying his best to show that the Indian government is likely to be involved in the extrajudicial killing of the Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar by interviewing anti-India lobbyists. It’s clear to everyone one that the Canadian PM has seriously botched up by wrongly blaming the Indian government! Shame on you Karan!

30.09.2023Are you going to ask about Kanishka bombing?
And so many gangsters given asylum in canada… I am asking about organized crime and punjab based gangsters who masquerade as persecuted Khalistanis to gain access and safe heaven in Canada…
Than these people indulge in gang wars even in canada.. They are doing human trafficking and contract killings and even drug trades…
India needs to show Canada its place. Why hv a friend who behaves like a enemy.
PRASHANT CHAVAN
30.09.202328SEP2023 Dear Viewer(s) Karan THAPAR is rightly asking Michael KUGEMAN "do you have any sense ..?" and Michael understands that Karan is meaning to ask him literally, so he reciprocates by "winking" back at Karan …I DO, I DO, I DO – ABBA ..
Harish Dayani
30.09.2023It is expected that people like Mr Kugelman should be more truthful. One killing of a terrorist by someone has been made to look like a big deal, whereas a sustainable terrorist activities by Canada are being put under the carpet. Let this gentleman speak equally vociferously about Tableaux of assassination of former PM, AI bombing, open threats to Indians/Diplomats which are far greater crimes. So sad that Karan Thapar specialises in vilification of India.
Vikram Herlekar
30.09.2023So long as ANY Justin Trudeau type or Sardarjee-joker involved Government is ruling Canada — this whole "Contain China Alliance" like QUAD — is Doomed 🙏
Time for Canadians to choose….
Wisely.
Vikram Herlekar
30.09.2023The last question or two effectively implies… The "Secret Weapon" of China-Pakistan against QUAD (and etc etc!!)…?
Khalistanis…!! 😁
Punjab (incl that in Pakistan) will one day RULE the World 👍🙏
Gaurav Das
30.09.2023Khalistani terrorist had been involved in many murders and bombing including bombing an air india flight, India had request extradition of this people but canada doesn't take it seriously due to internal politics of appeasement. Canada even host nur choudhary a man charged for killing mujibur Rehman founding father of Bangladesh. The statement Jaishankar said is absolutely correct regarding Canada is a safe heaven for terrorist.
Gaurav Das
30.09.2023RAW will continue to conduct such operations to protect India's sovereignty we all indians are behind our government and RAW 😊😊

30.09.2023A stab in the back.
Crises was precipitated by India’s state sponsored terror on the soil of a NATO member nation. Hindutva Indian state sponsored terror on Pakistani soil and of other nations was ignored by the world community and possibly encouraged. Hindutva India was emboldened with this attitude of world community now moved against Canada.
Foreign govt lobbies aligned with India may be protecting Hindutvas terror moves.l
Hindutva India has built its empire on Western and US investment and technological largesse, now it has shown its real face. Sanctions is the only way forward as Modi has to be involved to attack a friendly country like Canada.
When you back the wrong shady horse, it becomes a dilemma.
Of Biden fails to bring India to heel, it will invite other rogue states to act on US/Canadian soil. If an Indian is elected , like Sunak, the US will be an Indian colony.
The US has looked the other way when Israel has acted in this manner. The chicken have come home to roost.

30.09.2023Unfortunately Karan is desperate to prove Indian wrong!!

30.09.2023Unbelievable… this man hatred for Bharat and Modi.. two failed biscuit seeking elites debating an allegation as if the incident is proved. Looks like this Thapar is keen on war between India US. So easy to identify traitors
